Self-Care For Freedom Fighters 10 Week Challenge

By Girl Trek

Week 2: Build Your Legacy League

Dear Beloved Freedom Fighters,

It’s Week 2 of Self-Care for Freedom Fighters! Have you felt a closing of the gap from where you are and where you want to be?

I know that we on the GirlTREK team have, and I know that the women who are walking with us for the Sisterhood Saturday National Roll Call are as well.

We aren’t going to share the recordings from the calls like we did for Bootcamp, because the walk is a promise not a production. It’s two friends committing to meet at the same time, same place each week to hold each other accountable while inviting other women into our sacred crew. In order to have the space, the conversation, and the ease that we want to have, we’ve decided that what happens on the walk will stay on the walk.

And what’s been happening is nothing short of spiritual. No woman is hanging up the phone unchanged. No words could really describe what is happening. You have to be there with us next week. Saturday. 10AM ET. (646) 876-9923,,734464325#

Not only are women walking with us from every part of the world, but the ancestors themselves are with us and this Week 3 assignment is an honoring of what they have to teach us.

This Week’s Mission

Who are you the #daughterof? This week, we draw strength from our roots and honor the legacies of those who paved our paths. Join us in five dedicated walks, each a moving tribute to the ancestors and historical figures who inspire you.

Day 1: Walk in honor of an ancestor whose courage lifts you. Name her/him at the end of your walk. I am the #daughterof

Day 2: Walk in honor of an ancestor who you wish you had known better. Name her/him at the end of your walk. I am the #daughterof

Day 3: Walk in honor of an ancestor whose compassion you admire. Name her/him at the end of your walk. I am the #daughterof

Day 4: Walk in honor of an ancestor who knew how to have fun. Name her/him at the end of your walk. I am the #daughterof

Day 5: Walk in honor of an ancestor who deserved justice. Name her/him at the end of your walk. I am the #daughterof

Why this matters: Building on the crews we formed last week, this week’s walks are about grounding ourselves in the wisdom of our Legacy League. It’s about embracing their stories, learning their self-care secrets, and carrying their torches forward.

This week, you’re equipping your toolbox with ancestral wisdom that has been fortified for generations while walking away feeling more deeply connected to your origin stories.

Save the date! We want you to take a walk with a woman or girl in your life over Mother’s Day weekend as part of our #daughtersof celebration. Stay tuned for more details.  This week be transported by this curated playlist.
