The leaders of Cultivating Justice reach out today to the Greater Hartford Area with an urgent call to action. As the year comes to a close, what follows close behind is the start of a new legislative session in Connecticut. Many people across the state have signed the F.R.E.E. CT! Support letter for probation reform and have emailed legislators about proposed hb 6361, a bill that would eliminate incarceration for non criminal probation violations. Now, it is the time to come together for Circles for Change.
What is Circles for Change?
Circles for Change is a community exercise that Cultivating Justice uses as a tool for F.R.E.E. CT!; the goal is to actualize the impact on all community members, directly impacted or not, when people from the community lose their freedom to probation violations and incarceration.
Call to Action!
Host a Circles for Change event with us in your community! Each run-through of the exercise requires a minimum 6-10 people, 4 actors, and a large enough space to host the exercise. Past locations have included library rooms, community centers, living rooms, and church basements!
Now is the time to gather your friends and neighbors to get involved with F.R.E.E. CT!, begin to build community, and learn how the criminal justice system affects us all. Will you join Cultivating Justice and host a Circles for Change in your community? Please reach out to our organizer Jaymiah, at cultivatingjustice@chicksahoyfarm.org to set up a Circles for Change in your community.
