Gentle Wellness Practices For Stomach Flu Recovery

By Sasha Allen Walton, Sasha’s Whole Earth

Norovirus—often called the stomach flu—can be intense and fast-moving. When it reached our household, we focused on gentle, supportive practices to help our bodies rest and recover.

What Helped Us Most

  1. Hydration First

We increased our fluid and water intake. We kept Queasy tea in constant rotation once the nausea started. We were naturally apprehensive about eating, so we chose bone broth for the first 3 days of this virus.

  1. Gentle, Nutrient-Dense Foods

As our stomachs felt more stable, we slowly introduced smoothies made with ingredients naturally rich in electrolytes. Coconut water and cucumbers were simple, refreshing additions that felt easy to tolerate.

  1. Digestive Support

We used activated charcoal cautiously as part of our personal wellness routine to help with digestive discomfort and nausea.*

*Always consult a healthcare professional before using supplements, especially for children.

  1. Rest + Nervous System Support

Deep rest was essential. We leaned into calming practices like sound baths and frequency-based music to support relaxation and overall well-being while the body did what it needed to do. These practices also help the body accelerate its natural healing.

Important Notes from Our Experience

Days 1 and 2 were the most challenging. This type of illness primarily affects the gastrointestinal system and can leave lingering discomfort, such as cramping or an unsettled stomach. Listening to your body and not rushing recovery is key.

Symptoms can also look different in children. For example, our toddler was very gassy and refused dinner for several days, yet still ate breakfast and lunch. They did have intense and funky bowel movements, but they weren’t in a constant pattern of traditional diarrhea.

Cleaning & Prevention Tips

Because norovirus spreads easily, prevention matters:

  • Disinfect frequently touched surfaces regularly
  • Wash hands thoroughly and often
  • Clean items before placing them in the refrigerator
  • Monitor children’s environments closely, especially shared spaces
  • Your vigilance plays a powerful role in protecting your household.

Supporting Your Wellness Toolkit

If you’re focused on maintaining everyday wellness, we offer plant-forward options designed to complement a proactive lifestyle, including:

Vitamin C Booster

Berry Nectar

Sacred Berry (hydration support)

Yingate (nourishment support)

For digestive irritation, some customers explore Succor or our Anti-inflammatory blends as part of their routine.

These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent illness.

As always, Sasha’s Whole Earth is here to support mindful, holistic living. Taking gentle, intentional steps today can help you feel more grounded and prepared moving forward. Wishing you and your loved ones good health!
