Generation Power CT (GPCT) has announced the opening of its next Emergency Energy Assistance application cycle, providing eligible Connecticut households access to financial assistance to help maintain safe and reliable access to heat and power. Applications for the upcoming cycle will be accepted September 1-15, 2026 through GPCT’s online portal.
As energy costs continue to place pressure on family budgets, GPCT’s Emergency Energy Assistance Program serves as a vital safety net for households facing hardship. The program offers grants up to $500 to eligible households for utility, gas, electric, or fuel-related energy expenses. Eligible households may receive one energy assistance grant per 12-month period, allowing GPCT to extend support to as many families as possible, throughout the state.
During their last fiscal year (July 2025 – June 2026), GPCT provided more than 5,700 emergency energy grants to struggling Connecticut households.
“Energy insecurity affects households in every corner of our state,” said GPCT CEO, Perkin Simpson. “A utility bill is more than just a monthly expense. It represents a family’s ability to stay cool in the summer or warm in the winter, refrigerate food, charge medical devices, and maintain a safe and healthy home. No one should have to choose to between paying an energy bill or covering other basic necessities.”

Applications are accepted online only. Residents seeking assistance or additional information about eligibility requirements and required documentation should visit gpct.org/gethelp for more information. GPCT partners with Application Support Centers across Connecticut to help residents with in-person application support.
If you or someone you know is not yet eligible or in need of this resource, there will be two additional cycles: December 1-15, 2026 and March 1-15, 2027. Applicants are encouraged to apply when they can make full use of the one-time $500 award.
