A Love Letter to Valildra

By Dawn Felder Boren, Northend Agent’s

Someone once asked me what the price of love was and I said …death

The lingering of things that you are accustomed to

But will never experience again

As I begin to reflect on a part of my being that will no longer be

I reluctantly smile

It’s beautiful because I remember the oak tree

And please forgive me,

You have no idea where I’m going but it’s all true

My love for Validra started in a hospital room

1 minute after I was born

But my admiration began when I was 9

She placed me on the biggest oak tree

A limb that crawled from the sky to the grown

and when I looked up I saw her

She was placing her hands on my crown

I don’t remember what She said but I remember her actions after

I remember the laughter

I also remember the “look”

The look that left you a little shook

And I remember our books

As we traveled to different places through words

She was more than a Godmother

She was poetry

But oh how I’d wait by the mailbox

When She went her adventures aboard

Because every country She went

I’d receive a post card

This time it’s my turn

I need my gratefulness sent

For every gem She gave me

Every second spent

I don’t ask a lot of favors God

So please

After She sashays in your court

After the celebration

It can be after the dancing or after her grand presentation

Please kiss her on the cheek

Tell her that I deeply miss her

Please God deliver this
