Resistance includes Radical Self Care

It’s time for revolutionary self-care

Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation and that is an act of political warfare.” -Audre Lorde

I hope this message finds you navigating the last few weeks in the best ways that you can. Given all that has happened in the US politically the last few days, Spirit knows we can all use a little intentional, strategic self-care.

You may have heard me say before that white supremacy plays the long game, and certainly nothing has changed about that. Our emotional and physiological reactions to the continued attack on our civil rights can be downright stressful.

That’s why I came to gently remind you that in order to effectively resist attempts to destroy our rights and our freedoms must be met by us in our full strength and wellness.

Audre Lorde’s quote above reminds us that in order to be truly revolutionary, we must resist the impacts of negative stress on our bodies. I’ve put a short list of things you should begin to do (if you don’t already) to preserve your holistic wellness. I’ll be going live over on Instagram next Friday at 10:30am EST to talk about these some more.

In the meantime, add these to your toolkit if they’re a good fit for you.

  1. Meditate daily. Spend at least 5 -10 minutes in quiet so that you can receive messages from Spirit AND so you can allow your body to rest and reset. If you don’ t know where or how to start, check out my YouTube channel.
  2. Set daily Intentions. Don’t doom scroll first thing in the morning. Instead, use your waking moments to set your intentions for the day. (One of my intentions is to give this system hell until we’re all free)
  3. Center your health. Start with your baseline numbers (BP, Weight, Sugar Levels, etc.) and track where stress takes you. Be diligent and implement practices to address any areas of concern.
  4. Connect to nature. Spend some time under the sun (use sunscreen!) and let your barefeet touch grass and/or soil. If you can, rest under a tree and thank it for shade and allyship.

These are just a few things to get you started. The main idea is to use everything at your disposal to ensure that while we resist politically and economically, we also resist spiritually and emotionally.

We only lose when we’re no longer here. Keep fighting. Ya hear?

Only good things,

Tip
